Primary source: MCMIS Company Census File (open data). Observed full-file size: about 4,429,563 rows, updated daily. Last observed update: 2026-09-05T11:47:00Z. Mover Check queries the live full MCMIS Company Census File (~4.4 million rows). A filtered cache is not the search universe and is never used to declare a mover not found.

Live lookup

Mover Check queries the Socrata API for the full census file by USDOT, docket, or name. That is the documented FMCSA public dataset — not a scrape of SAFER HTML. SAFER is linked for verification. If the live query fails and no exact-USDOT cache hit exists, the page reports SOURCE UNAVAILABLE. A name miss against the filtered cache is never shown as “mover not found.”

Operating authority (MOTUS)

Census docket1 is a single identifier. Current authority types are read from Motus AuthHist - All With History. One USDOT may hold several authorities (motor carrier of household goods, broker, freight forwarder).

Safety rating dates

When a federal safety rating is present we show the rating, rating date, review date, and the census file current-as-of date. An older rating date is not implied to be recent. Codes S/C/U are labeled from the MCMIS dictionary. We never compute a 0–100 score.

Filtered cache

Optional last-known cache of active household-goods-flagged records used only when live census is down AND an exact USDOT hits. Not the complete MCMIS file. Name misses against this cache are not search results.

Cache size: 1832 records. Used only as a last-known exact-USDOT fallback when live census is down.
